A trauma surgeon from the Canadian Navy has won an innovation award for a potentially lifesaving medical device inspired by a hair clip. The ITClamp is a medical clamp designed to minimize blood loss from traumatic wounds suffered on the battlefield or in civilian accidents. “It wouldn’t matter if you were a medic or soldier, this idea is just simple, and anyone could self-treat or treat a buddy within seconds of the injury,” Dr. Dennis Filips told the Edmondton Journal.
